As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a game of talent and pure luck. The goal is to move your pieces carefully around the game board to your inner board and at the same time your opponent shifts their chips toward their inside board in the opposite direction. With opposing player checkers heading in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for specific tactics at particular instances. Here are the 2 final Backgammon tactics to complete your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the aim of the blocking plan is to slow down the opponent to move their chips, the Priming Game tactic is to absolutely block any movement of the opposing player by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s chips will either get bumped, or result a bad position if she at all attempts to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be setup anyplace between point two and point 11 in your game board. As soon as you’ve successfully constructed the prime to stop the activity of your opponent, your competitor does not even get to toss the dice, and you move your pieces and roll the dice yet again. You will win the game for sure.

The Back Game Strategy

The aims of the Back Game technique and the Blocking Game tactic are similar – to hinder your competitor’s positions in hope to better your chances of succeeding, however the Back Game plan uses different tactics to achieve that. The Back Game strategy is generally used when you are far behind your opponent. To compete in Backgammon with this plan, you need to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This strategy is more challenging than others to use in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the pieces are relocated is partly the result of the dice toss.
