As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of ability and pure luck. The aim is to move your pieces carefully around the board to your inside board while at the same time your opponent moves their checkers toward their inner board in the opposing direction. With opposing player chips shifting in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for particular techniques at specific instances. Here are the two final Backgammon tactics to complete your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the goal of the blocking plan is to slow down the opponent to shift their chips, the Priming Game strategy is to completely block any activity of the opposing player by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s chips will either get hit, or end up in a damaged position if she at all tries to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anywhere between point two and point 11 in your half of the board. After you have successfully constructed the prime to stop the movement of your competitor, the competitor doesn’t even get to toss the dice, and you shift your checkers and roll the dice yet again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Plan

The aims of the Back Game technique and the Blocking Game technique are very similar – to harm your competitor’s positions with hope to boost your odds of winning, but the Back Game strategy relies on alternate tactics to achieve that. The Back Game technique is commonly utilized when you’re far behind your opponent. To play Backgammon with this tactic, you need to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This plan is more difficult than others to employ in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your pieces and how the checkers are moved is partly the outcome of the dice roll.
