As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of ability and luck. The goal is to move your checkers safely around the game board to your inside board while at the same time your opposing player moves their chips toward their home board in the opposite direction. With opposing player pieces heading in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for specific tactics at specific instances. Here are the two final Backgammon techniques to round out your game.
The Priming Game Tactic
If the goal of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to move their chips, the Priming Game plan is to completely block any activity of the opposing player by constructing a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s pieces will either get bumped, or result a damaged position if he/she ever tries to leave the wall. The ambush of the prime can be built anyplace between point 2 and point 11 in your half of the board. Once you have successfully assembled the prime to stop the movement of your opponent, the opponent does not even get to roll the dice, that means you shift your chips and roll the dice yet again. You will be a winner for sure.
The Back Game Tactic
The aims of the Back Game technique and the Blocking Game plan are very similar – to hinder your opponent’s positions in hope to boost your odds of winning, however the Back Game tactic uses different tactics to do that. The Back Game plan is generally used when you’re far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this tactic, you need to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This technique is more complex than others to play in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your checkers and how the pieces are relocated is partially the result of the dice roll.
