The objective of a Backgammon game is to move your pieces around the Backgammon board and get them off the game board quicker than your opposing player who works harder to attempt the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Succeeding in a match in Backgammon requires both tactics and fortune. Just how far you will be able to move your chips is up to the numbers from tossing the dice, and just how you move your chips are decided on by your overall playing strategies. Players use differing plans in the differing parts of a game dependent on your positions and opponent’s.
The Running Game Technique
The aim of the Running Game strategy is to bring all your checkers into your inner board and pull them off as fast as you could. This plan concentrates on the speed of advancing your chips with little or no efforts to hit or block your competitor’s pieces. The ideal scenario to use this tactic is when you believe you might be able to move your own checkers faster than the opposition does: when 1) you have a fewer chips on the board; 2) all your checkers have moved beyond your competitor’s checkers; or 3) your opponent does not use the hitting or blocking strategy.
The Blocking Game Plan
The primary aim of the blocking plan, by its title, is to block the opponent’s pieces, temporarily, while not worrying about shifting your pieces quickly. After you’ve created the barrier for your opponent’s movement with a few chips, you can shift your other checkers rapidly from the board. The player will need to also have a clear strategy when to withdraw and shift the pieces that you utilized for blocking. The game becomes interesting when your competitor uses the same blocking technique.
