As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and luck. The aim is to shift your checkers safely around the game board to your inside board and at the same time your opponent shifts their pieces toward their inner board in the opposite direction. With competing player chips shifting in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for specific strategies at particular times. Here are the two final Backgammon strategies to complete your game.
The Priming Game Plan
If the purpose of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to move his chips, the Priming Game tactic is to completely barricade any movement of the opposing player by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s chips will either get bumped, or end up in a bad position if he at all tries to leave the wall. The ambush of the prime can be setup anywhere between point two and point 11 in your game board. After you have successfully assembled the prime to block the activity of your opponent, your opponent doesn’t even get to toss the dice, and you move your pieces and toss the dice again. You’ll win the game for sure.
The Back Game Technique
The goals of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game strategy are similar – to hinder your opponent’s positions with hope to better your chances of winning, but the Back Game strategy utilizes alternate techniques to do that. The Back Game technique is commonly employed when you are far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this technique, you have to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This technique is more challenging than others to use in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your pieces and how the chips are relocated is partly the result of the dice toss.
