As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and good luck. The aim is to move your pieces carefully around the game board to your home board and at the same time your opposing player moves their chips toward their inside board in the opposite direction. With opposing player pieces heading in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for particular strategies at specific times. Here are the two final Backgammon strategies to complete your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the purpose of the blocking strategy is to hamper the opponents ability to move his pieces, the Priming Game tactic is to completely block any movement of the opponent by constructing a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s checkers will either get bumped, or result a bad position if he/she ever tries to leave the wall. The ambush of the prime can be setup anyplace between point 2 and point eleven in your game board. After you’ve successfully constructed the prime to block the activity of your competitor, the opponent does not even get to toss the dice, and you move your chips and toss the dice again. You’ll be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The objectives of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game tactic are very similar – to hurt your competitor’s positions with hope to boost your odds of winning, but the Back Game tactic uses different tactics to do that. The Back Game tactic is commonly employed when you are far behind your competitor. To compete in Backgammon with this tactic, you have to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This strategy is more challenging than others to play in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your pieces and how the chips are relocated is partially the outcome of the dice toss.
