As we dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of talent and pure luck. The goal is to shift your pieces safely around the game board to your inner board while at the same time your opponent moves their checkers toward their inner board in the opposing direction. With competing player pieces heading in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for particular tactics at particular instances. Here are the two final Backgammon tactics to complete your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the goal of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to shift their pieces, the Priming Game plan is to absolutely barricade any activity of the opponent by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s pieces will either get hit, or result a bad position if she ever attempts to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be established anyplace between point 2 and point 11 in your half of the board. Once you’ve successfully built the prime to stop the movement of the opponent, the opponent doesn’t even get to roll the dice, that means you move your chips and roll the dice again. You’ll be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The objectives of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game strategy are similar – to hinder your competitor’s positions in hope to boost your chances of winning, however the Back Game technique uses seperate tactics to achieve that. The Back Game tactic is often used when you’re far behind your competitor. To participate in Backgammon with this tactic, you need to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This tactic is more difficult than others to use in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your checkers and how the checkers are moved is partially the outcome of the dice toss.
