As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of talent and luck. The goal is to move your pieces safely around the game board to your inside board while at the same time your opposing player shifts their pieces toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With competing player checkers shifting in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for specific techniques at particular instances. Here are the 2 final Backgammon plans to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the aim of the blocking plan is to slow down the opponent to move their checkers, the Priming Game plan is to completely stop any activity of the opposing player by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s chips will either get bumped, or result a bad position if he/she at all attempts to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be built anyplace between point 2 and point eleven in your board. After you’ve successfully assembled the prime to prevent the movement of the opponent, your opponent does not even get to roll the dice, and you move your chips and roll the dice again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Tactic

The goals of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game tactic are similar – to hinder your competitor’s positions in hope to improve your odds of succeeding, but the Back Game tactic uses seperate techniques to do that. The Back Game strategy is generally used when you’re far behind your competitor. To compete in Backgammon with this tactic, you have to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This tactic is more challenging than others to employ in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the chips are relocated is partly the outcome of the dice roll.
