As we dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and good luck. The goal is to move your checkers safely around the board to your inside board while at the same time your opponent shifts their chips toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With opposing player checkers heading in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for specific techniques at particular times. Here are the last 2 Backgammon plans to complete your game.
The Priming Game Plan
If the goal of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to move her pieces, the Priming Game strategy is to absolutely stop any movement of the opponent by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s checkers will either get bumped, or result a damaged position if he/she ever attempts to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anywhere between point 2 and point eleven in your board. After you’ve successfully assembled the prime to prevent the movement of your competitor, the competitor does not even get a chance to roll the dice, and you move your chips and toss the dice again. You will win the game for sure.
The Back Game Plan
The goals of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game plan are very similar – to hinder your competitor’s positions in hope to improve your odds of winning, but the Back Game strategy utilizes different techniques to achieve that. The Back Game strategy is often employed when you are far behind your competitor. To participate in Backgammon with this technique, you need to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This tactic is more difficult than others to play in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your chips and how the pieces are relocated is partially the result of the dice toss.
