As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and luck. The aim is to move your checkers carefully around the game board to your inside board while at the same time your opposing player shifts their chips toward their inner board in the opposing direction. With opposing player checkers moving in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for particular tactics at particular times. Here are the 2 final Backgammon techniques to finish off your game.
The Priming Game Tactic
If the aim of the blocking tactic is to slow down the opponent to shift her checkers, the Priming Game plan is to completely block any activity of the opposing player by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s checkers will either get hit, or end up in a bad position if she at all attempts to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anywhere between point 2 and point 11 in your half of the board. Once you have successfully assembled the prime to prevent the movement of the competitor, the competitor does not even get to roll the dice, and you move your checkers and roll the dice yet again. You will win the game for sure.
The Back Game Technique
The aims of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game strategy are similar – to hinder your competitor’s positions in hope to better your odds of succeeding, however the Back Game strategy uses different techniques to achieve that. The Back Game strategy is frequently used when you’re far behind your competitor. To participate in Backgammon with this strategy, you need to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This technique is more challenging than others to employ in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the checkers are moved is partly the outcome of the dice roll.
